no power in cab?

Hey everyone,

I have an 85 GMC sierra with a 350 in it that i just lost power to my instrument panel and ignition switch, so it will not even attempt to start. Recently, i just made another car my daily driver, so i tried to use it weekly to keep it fresh. I just recently replaced the alternator because the battery wasnt charging well, and after i replaced it was when i lost all power. Any ideas?

Agree, look at the fuseible link that is just in front of the firewall, between the brake booster and the engine.

Re: no power in cab?

I lost the power in my cab last night when trying to get the truck running, got it back today. I'll upload a picture of what mine had done. It was the red wire coming from the junction block(i think that's what it is.. looks like the red circled thing in this thread -> http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=227308).

one second let me upload the picture

Here it is.. excuse the truck please. Everything on it is a mess, wiring especially. Working my way through it slowly and learning as I go!

Also it could have a problem where the 2 wires go into 1... if they all do that and mine isn't just rigged up (just right of my thumb, can't really see it in the pic cause of the hose)

Yeah i read this thread when i searched for threads about no power in the cab and saw your suggestion, then googled fusible link haha and went outside to look.. found that. I was just giving him a picture to go by and see what it might look like if mangled a bit. (rather obvious it wasn't in good shape)
