Swapping Chassis

Hi all,

I am new to this site but have been reading threads I found through searches over the past two months. I'm looking to buy a 2nd gen C/K that I could eventually update with a Cummins 24 valve 5.9l among other things. With the entire build I am looking to do it seems I am best suited buying a 3rd gen C/K. Thing is they are all ugly. Is it possible to swap in the chassis from a 3rd gen into a 67-72? From what I've been able to find, there is pretty significant difference in wheelbase and overall length. Are there any other dimensions that would come into play?
