Re: Project Janus
Great project. You gave me the inspiration I needed...
Just did the floor replacement this weekend. I used three braces, one in each door just like you did, and one in the center of the cab from the back to the firewall. I hope everything stayed square. Had to pull on the metal at the firewall to get a good tack. Have you been able to confirm that you are square? Are you going to weld the inside seam on the front and back of the cab, or just use seam sealer? Thanks for any advice. |

Re: Project Janus
Thanks! I'm glad it helped. I need to post some new pics too. We squared it with the rear OEM bolts, and the body cart it sits on we made specifically for the bed...it even uses Energy Suspension bushings. The doors actually fit better after the new floor! The plan is to weld the seam, it's a lot more work but makes for a better product in the end.

Re: Project Janus
Here's a few pics of mine. I left the cab on its back and used the cherry picker to bring it in. Clamped everything in, confirmed square as best I could and tacked it in. I can't see how it can really move much, but we will know soon enough...

Re: Project Janus
Looks great! These trucks are different from most vehicles of their age in that they align on the backside really easily...so I feel like it would actually be pretty difficult to get it OUT of alignment...we took out the old and reinstalled the new floor all in a half day or so... in comparison, my 69 Camaro took minimum 20hours or so...Is your truck white? I love white, I just haven't convinced myself to paint mine white yet...

Re: Project Janus
If the body work is prefect, any color can look awesome (to me...) even, white!!!

Re: Project Janus
Yep, it's white. And the shiny paint deceived me. I thought the truck was solid until I got it home and found the rot.

Re: Project Janus
Project update: Sorry I haven't been posting pictures...I'm in the middle of PCS'ing to who knows where, and my body guy just had his 2nd boy. I've made a few changes to the original plan: been in contact with Porterbuilt...plan is to use a stage 2 rear and all the front goodies to use with the oem crossmember, and I've been in contact with N2Billet in regards to wheel sizing...I definitely am going to go with my gut and use the Vintecs. They are my favorite wheel of all time, and they look so awesome on any C10. The problem is my paint scheme from GM is exactly the same as Lucy's...huge dilemma, but we'll formulate a plan soon. Pics to come soon!

Re: Project Janus
@rkleypass...love the truck, esp the white. I don't think white does a 67-68 due justice, and like I stated in the post right before this one...I'm just going to go with the original GM paint scheme...

Re: Project Janus
Truck has made some huge leaps and bounds. I want to upload all of the pics at one time...we designed some new front suspension around the Wilwood Pro Spindles (which currently are trying to retrofit with the C6 Z06 brakes), and all of the metalwork is done. Here is a rendering from my friend Ben, but standby!
