drop spindles?

Ik this has been covered a lot but I would like a little more input between which size spindles & springs. I'm currently looking at Bell Tech 3" spindles & 1" springs with a coil cut for five" drop? Also what if I did 2.5 spindles 2" springs 4.5 drop? Would there be much of a difference in ride or rubbing? A 6" drop flip kit & plan on using the stock 15" rallies for quite some time. I like the way they look but maybe plan on putting 20's in the future. One last ?, What could I expect to pay for the labor? Thx evy1!

Re: drop spindles?

If you're buying aftermarket springs, I don't recommend cutting them. They're made differently than factory springs. I cut one round off of my factory springs to give me roughly a 2" drop...then used 2.5 drop spindles. I had a 4.5" drop with 20" rims, I would rub when I hit big pot holes.

Re: drop spindles?

Stock rallies and the drop that you want will undoubtedly give you some issue with rubbing of the lower control arm on the inner edge of the rim. You will have to go to a larger diameter of rim to clear the LCA.

Ok Dreamer good to know.

I've read somewhere that grinding of the LCA can be done but is that all that is needed?

Re: drop spindles?

You just need to use 7" rally's, they work great for the front...., does Bell tech not make a 2" drop spring? Or do you already have them?

Re: drop spindles?

My blazer sat low in the back with a similar front drop to what you have planned.

Re: drop spindles?

I thought 2.5 drop spindles would clear the 15x8 ralleys?

I thought about shocks but the truck has 48k original mileage. Are you referring to drop shocks?
Also the package is more like $590. I forgot tax & shipping.

Re: drop spindles?

I've got 3in drop spindles with 1 and 1/4 coils cut off the stock springs on my Blazer. There were no issues with the 15x7 stock rallies hitting. I'm not sure of the spindle brand since I bought them used. I have 4" western chassis drop leafs on the rear. I have 20s now w 245 45 20 in the front and there hasn't been any rubbing issues either.

Re: drop spindles?

the 15x7 will clear the front for sure. You can also run stock shocks with no problems, just going the two inches with the springs, the spindle does not affect the shocks.

You can also save some money by using 79 Toyota 2WD shocks for the rear...don't forget you will need to get an alignment once those springs are installed.

Re: drop spindles?

I,m sure you will have to put a c-notch in also,my truck I didn,t but the blazer I did.It seems to sit lower as well, I had to run a taller tire to bring it up if I remember correctly.

Re: drop spindles?

So here it is. I'm lookin @ lift shackles to bring the rear up some. LOL. Right now the rear is totally bottomed out on the shocks so it may even fall a bit lower if I were to remove them for drop shocks. I have about an inch from the rear axle to frame. Bump stops are totally removed.

Re: drop spindles?

Haha, just rides like shhhhh. Although I'm very happy with the clearance with the steering. It doesn't even rub. They must be 15x7 ralleys.

Re: drop spindles?

Maybe you should be looking at some new leaf springs to bring it up a little and get a better ride. I think the condition of the springs is the main reason everybody gets different drops with the same components.

That sounds like a fantastic idea Rich. I'll look into that.
