where did your cummins end up sitting?
I am in the process of setting up the crossmember for my suburban. My friend the welder is afraid to weld the crossmember for the cummins in place because there is no body in plave to confirm placement. For the guys that haver done this swap in a 73-87( 91) where did your balancer end up sitting in relation to the front crossmember? I know I have to cut this crossmember down, does the balancer end up ahead of the crossmember if so how much forward is the front edge?
Thanks and sorry for being so wordy Keith |

Re: where did your cummins end up sitting?
are you putting this in a two wheel or 4 wheel drive? What year of Cummins are you using?

Re: where did your cummins end up sitting?
On my 88 R30 with the 93 12 valve Cummins, I don't have the factory piece that connects both frame rails anymore. The mechanic that put it in for me completely removed this piece and welded in a channel iron further forward.
I took a piece of flat metal and placed it along the face of the balancer and on the driver side frame rail it landed almost to the center of the bolt that is on top of the gear box that is used to adjust the worm gear contact. I was going to measure it back from the grounding bolt but I'm not sure that they are all the same. Let me know if you need more measurements. I also have a 89 with a 24 valve.
