Steering question
So I have a 76 gmc 3/4 ton 4x4 and have an issue with steering. It has tons of play and extremely hard to handle while driving. I can move steering wheel 6-7 inches to the left and about half that to the right before it catches the you turn back and it over steers. Does this sound like a tie rod end or pitman arm? Or? The tie rod end moves by hand with the front off the ground. Any advice helps. Thanks

Re: Steering question
6-7 inches is a lot! Id check the play in the box and cracked frame near the box.

Re: Steering question
Have a friend sit in the truck and rock the steering back and forth. You get under it and look at all the steering linkage,Look at every joint if the joint has play in it you will see it.Or it could be the steering box is wore out or worse the frame is cracked around the steering box but it can be fixed.
