WC Shock externders issue/??
Do these shock extenders look installed corectly to you all? Western chassis for 85.
I can tighten it down as hard as I can and still moves. Will I have to weld them in place or drill a hole on the back piece? Or maybe I have them on wrong. What have you all done if you are using these? How are they working for you? On this pic, the driver side is the one that has moved. thank you. |

In those pics, the rear is below the springs. Why do you need shock extenders? Typically they're used when doing a flip-kit.

Re: WC Shock externders issue/??
I got hanger /shackle in the rear which gave about 4"+ drop. Everything i researched said to get extenders instead of lower shocks due to the angle it crated and since I needed to replace mine I decided to stay with stock size and get extenders.

Tap the extender back flush and drill factory mount where the hole is in the extender and bolt it on. Mine did not have the extra bolts so plan on buying two 3/8"x1" bolts and lock nuts.

Re: WC Shock externders issue/??
I would drill a hole on the back side to solve the problem. The djm extenders I used to have had three holes.

i will have to try the drilling hole, but it will be on the extenders. i can remember right now, but i belive my factory mounts have the hole in them but my extenders dont.

Re: WC Shock externders issue/??
What brand?
I've used Western Chassis mostly & they have the hole to bolt them in as well.

Re: WC Shock externders issue/??
Personally, I don't think you need extenders for your drop. I ran a shackle/hanger kit on my 73 for years, using the factory shocks. No issues, ride was normal.
