Re: Any 4.3 v6 swaps?
I've been looking at a slightly different route myself, I'm going to run a 4.2 Inline 6 from a trailblazer in my '70 GMC.

Re: Any 4.3 v6 swaps?
Vortec 4.3v6 is a great engine if the 5.3 didn't get the same mileage and have100 more hp and just about the same ammount of modifications it would be a good choice for a swap. I honestly can't see how they could sell both engines in the same truck from the factory.
I had a 96 sonoma with a 4.3 that got about 16mpg, my 67 with a 5.3 gets about 17mpg pulling my boat.

Re: Any 4.3 v6 swaps?
I considered using a 4.3 in my project truck. (It now sits in the corner of my garage taking up space.) Manifold clearance issues n the wire chasing nightmare changed my mind. Sm block towers for mounts appeared to work. The rear side of the block looks to be identical to a V8 also. I can't see using anything but a OD tranny or 6 speed manual behind it. On a good day my 97 blazer could manage 20 MPG if your foot wasn't too heavy. So dunno if there would be much savings in MPG in the swap and worth all the headaches maybe better off just doing a LS1 swap more desirable in the long run and becoming more common now days.
