WTB 1964 I6 Engine

I'm looking for a 230 with engine suffix NE or a 292 with engine suffix PG. Let me know what you may have. Thanks!

Ive got a 63 mid year production 230 if you can't find anything closer to 64.

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

I have what I believe to be the original 230 in a '64 3 speed truck, but the suffix appears to just be "N".

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

The "N" suffix is correct for 63-64 series c10, k10 (64), c20 & k20 (64). 230cid

Flint engine Jan 27.....and probably 64 as suspected. But the date codes on the rest of the engine should narrow that down for you.

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

Yes, it's a '64. Neat to confirm it is the correct one.

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

How much are you looking to get? I'd really like to find one with the NE suffix but this will work if I can't locate one.

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

My 63 block is a "ne" suffix. It was used in 63/64, but it is a 63 block

Are you looking to sell it? Is it just a block or the whole engine? What is the date on it?

Whole thing; it's in good running shape and not all sludged up. Stamped date is January 27 as 1963c-10 mentioned, and the block is also a '64. The month is obscured by the dipstick in the pictures I have, but it kind of has to be January 22, 1964. Block casting number is 3854036.

I don't really need to sell it, but I have a mountain of engines that seems to keep growing, and I'm sure I'll end up with more. Make me an offer.

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

I found the one you were looking for.Don't have the time to deal with getting it out and then prepping for shipping etc , so I am backing out. I would have wanted $700 plus shipping if I was to sell it, complete low mileage motor but like I said a few meical issue's have come up and there are better uses for my time and energy.

Beginning in Oct I would be in a positions to deal with this.............

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

Oh...just noticed I responded to the wrong post earlier.

Anyway, like I said, just shoot me an offer on it. I have it in the truck now and can do a video of it running, along with a leakdown test and oil pressure check. Seems like it's pretty low mileage, or was rebuilt at some point.

Re: WTB 1964 I6 Engine

BTW, so the "NE" is '63 that was used into (very?) early '64, and just "N" was used on '64 engines?

This is the info I have. It looks like they were used both years but I have a 4 speed so I think the "NE" suffix is what I would need. I am probably overthinking this whole deal but I would like to do some more research before I make you an offer.

Ok, just let me know.

Not sure about that list, though; a TH350 didn't even exist in '63--you couldn't even get a TH400 until '66.

Yeah...only auto in 63 was the powerglide. My engine is complete from air cleaner to oil pan. Only thing not there is the alternator.
