1985 S10 V8 swap...save me some time please!

Ok guys, I have never even considered playing with an S10 but one has dropped in my lap. I am going to do a 350/350 swap just because I have it sitting here and after I get it dialed in and right I plan on giving it to my nephew for his 16th birthday.

I don't have the time to weed through all the banter and opinions on the best kits and easiest way to go about the swap. Could some one PLEASE send me a link or thread to the best site or thread on what to buy so I have it all here when I begin?? Mounts, exhaust, x members, fans etc.

giving a 16yo a V8 powered s10 is not a good choice, but thats none of my business.

but, mounts are easy to make and use facotyr chevy truck mounts, exaust is up to you, id run stock iron manifolds, x-member is stock, slighlty modified for oil pan, fan is best using the stock fan/fan clutch, and thats about it.

super easy, get a driveshaft made, and have some fun.

My first vehicle was a V8 as with most everyone I knew. I however didn't come from a child seat, seat belt and styrofoam hat on a bicycle generation. If his overprotective mother doesn't want it than so be it but Im going to enjoy it for a couple of years before he turns 16.

the metal frame mounts can be bought on eBay for around $50.00.
the factory rubber mounts to use are the ones from the 2.8l v6

the only factory cast iron manifold you can use; that will fit; are the 1982-1992 Camaro/Firebird; low performance version. the main problem will be the driver side.

the steering column will have to be moved about 3/4" to the driver's side.
if using a column shifter, the linkage will have to be bent/modified.

the air conditioner evaproator housing(if you have ac) will have to be modified so it clears the passenger side valve cover.

the firewall; mainly the body seam; will have to be modified with a big hammer.

the best cooling radiator is the 1984-1989 Corvette radiator and it has auto trans fittings.

use a motor driven fan.

there's a lot more to it than this.

Also, this is not going to be like our full-size pickups; where just about everything is a bolt-on and go.
With the S10, it's going to be clearance issues with everything you do.
Not questioning your mechanic abilities, but I don't care how good of a mechanic you are; it's not gonna be just a one weekend project.

Now that's what I am looking for. Thanks. In the weeks since this post I have gotten the book, the jags mount brackets, the correct manifolds because I don't believe in headers and put my hands on a few other parts. We are fully capable here at Rottenwood Garage with all the tools, manpower and experience. Its just none of us have done a V8-S10 swap. We are really looking forward to it.
