Right now there is no through rust which is fortunate but the rust has set in and if you get to it right now you can reverse it all together.
It will take about 40 hours, you can pull the entire front end apart, restore it and put it back together, it would be worth the time and effort.
I think this is a great truck, I hope you decide to take it one step further and give the old girl a little more love.

Yeah I have been debating with myself on removing the whole front crossmember and doing just that. There are also quite a few leaks coming from the engine and tranny so I even thought about pulling it all and resealing everything. Definitely was NOT my original plan when purchasing the truck but what the hell, gone this far already
