turn signal question
Can anyone tell the difference between the side indicators on 68-72 chevy trucks, blazers, suburbans? I have noticed two variations; one with a distinct black horizontal line and one with an inconspicuous vertical line. I see both of them on all years and models. Just wonder why a truck would have one or the other..

Re: turn signal question
Deluxe and standard, as far as purchasing. You may also find some smooth lenses that are beveled around the lip and almost appear frenched in: those are van side markers and not original to these trucks.

Re: turn signal question
yeah I think the one with the distinct black line is on the Cheyenne and higher models....the other more plain ones are on the lower custom models.
I may be wrong though, that's what I thought

Re: turn signal question
Yes, they were available as just a reflector or could be ordered with bulbs.

Re: turn signal question
The deluxe markers were introduced sometime during the 1969 model year and were only used on the top trim level trucks. The 67s, 68s and at least some of the 69s had reflectors only. For example, my 69 CST was made in Dec. 1968 and had plain markers without bulbs. Later in 1969, CSTs had lighted deluxe markers. There is some debate if lighted markers became a 69 option or were introduced mid-year as standard equipment. I've never seen the lighted versions listed as an option in the literature.
The way the lighted markers "react" to the turn signals also varied. Some, perhaps the earlier years, did not flash with the turn signals. Others (the later years?) flashed alternately with the turn signals. |
