93 gmc c1500 "Green Machine"

Well I finally was able to gather everything to drop my truck 5 in the front 6 or 7 in the back. Bought the a complete belltech kit with street performance shocks. Also bought a new set of wheels and tires as well. Here is the truck as it is right now.

Brakes are off, stock coils out, and pulling the lower control arm out to replace with a new set of Moog ball joints.

Re: 93 gmc c1500 "Green Machine"

spindles and all except the upper control arms have been pulled. I won't pull the uppers out because they were replaced a while back because of some stubborn ball joints. Its a terrible picture but it shows you that its all off.

Re: 93 gmc c1500 "Green Machine"

if forgot to take pictures but i was able to purchase some Moog insulators for the coil springs, moog endlinks and sway bar bushings, and i went ahead and got some new outer tie rod ends since the boots were pretty much gone. Surprisingly they whole front end still feels tight for as many miles it has before i installed the new rods.

front wheels on and sprayed some rustoleum on the brake calipers to look more pleasing for how open the wheels are. Drag truck now lol

Re: 93 gmc c1500 "Green Machine"

kind of a crappy pic but the flip kit is installed along with shock extenders and shocks, several weeks ago my Dad and I installed the c-notch to decrease the work load on us since were only able to work on the weekends when no ones around at the hangar. we also took a weekend to install a new center bearing support and all u-joints as well.
for some reason without the rear end bolted in, the back end of the truck would come down so we jacked up on the bumper a bit with that massive jack. funny thing about the jack if I heard it correctly, its only a 3 ton jack. The times I have seen them use it is when they jack up near the wheels of the aircraft.

Re: 93 gmc c1500 "Green Machine"

I'm finally done with the truck and this is how it sits now. It make look a little lower in the back than the front and thats because I had my old wheels and tires in the back. I had to take the rearend back down and swap around the pieces that fit around the axle tubes because the rear end was pushing up into the transmission putting it into a bind. swapped it around, adjusted the parking cable and cut the exhaust last night since the rear end was hitting it some.
this will be it for now until I pay down some CC debt before I either start on interior work or body work. most likely will do interior first since I have no where to sand and prime the truck. I have a set of buckets now and if its possibly have some seat covers made to fit on the seats without ripping up the old upholstery. anyways all in all I am impressed with how this handles now and the ride quality has improved so much.
