Cab bushing advice needed.
Now that I finally got that last cab bolt out it's about time to make sure I know how to put the new bushings in. I have a set from Classic Heartbeat but there were no diagrams.
Does anyone have a pic of how to arrange the pieces as to how they go into the brackets? *One bracket seems rusted a bit much but I think it will hold for now. When the frame off starts, I'll replace that bracket. |

The LMC catalog has a good diagram. Keep in mind that the bushing kits do not have the thick washers, you will need to reuse yours. These thick washers are needed to keep all the body lines and gaps in check.

I'm thinking that the "thick" washers are used as spacers to dial in the distance between the cab floor and the frame. As in when you are done replacing and adjusting the cab mounts you should have X distance at the front and Y distance at the rear for clearace between the frame and specific spots on the cab floor or floor support.
The original support bushings on my 71 GMC 2500 are in terrible shape and have to be replaced.

If you no longer have the thick washers you can use regular large washers (about 2 1/4 dia) to shim cab to correct position. You can always see spot the trucks that are not shimmed properly, the door to fender gaps are off and the body lines between the fender, cab, and bed are not lined up. When replacing the cab bushings you should also replace the core support bushings as well.

I'll be replacing my support cushions also. The hardware was so bad I had to cut it off with a cutting wheel. I measured the spacer prior to cutting and it looked like it was 7/8" long. The attached photo in the thread, shows the spacer to be about 1 1/2" long.
My truck is a 1 ton. Is it possible that the frame size dictates I use a spacer shorter than 1 1/2"? In other words; 1 1/2" for C10, 7/8" for 1 ton?

1 ton, 3/4 ton, and all 4X4 use the same cab mounts. 67-68 core supports are all the same no matter what you are building. 69-72 core support bushing same thing. The chassis will dictate what you need to use for body mounts. WES
