Windshield wiper problem
My windshield wipers on my 72 work but are very slow, they also seem to "hesitate" when I turn them on (takes a few seconds before they start to move). Anyone have any ideas of what the problem may be (motor, etc.)?
Thanks. |

if you have a voltmeter i would watch that, if it stays around 14 with the engine running it is probably the motor. if not then your alternator might not be putting out enough undera load. but check the ground and power wires first. something may just be loose-joe

Put some PB blaster on them to lube them....should work good.
Mine were always really, really slow, until one day i was driving in the rain and they flat out stopped. The motor just locked up...i couldn't budge the wiper arms by pushing or pulling on them. And the motor got really, really hot to the touch. I put in a new wiper motor ($45), and damn, they haul!!! I can now easily drive in a downpour, hehe. When i took out the old motor it was really loose....only had 2 out of 3 screws holding it in....proalby caused the linkage to bind up and made it burn up.
