How would you wire up an engine test/run stand?

Specifically the starting circuit. Also, do you have to run an alternator?
Thinking of building a test stand, but unsure as to how to wire it up.
Anybody have a diagram or wiring plans they would like to share?
Thanks,
SC

Just have a few switches on a panel one to give the distributor power one for electric fans if they are used and have a momentary for the starting circuit it could be a toggle momentary or a push button just run the wire to the Starter soilinoid ive ran motors on the floor before just using jumper cables and a hot wire to the dist.

Im going to be building me a test stand soon ill get some pics posted up when its completed

yep. that pretty much it, don't need to run an altenator if your just breaking it in. It will drain the battery some.

if i were to build a test stand i'd include oil pressure, water temp gauges plus ogygen sensors for each header i'd also get an emergangy strobe off a firetruck or ambulance to have a visual on when it's running
