Top repair
recently purchased a 71 k5 for my sons first truck. The left rear steel reinforcement has cracked causing several cracks in the top. Has anyone ever seen this before? The rest of the top is ok, just a few small cracks around door openings. The hatch is toast. Is it worth fixing or should I keep searching for a new one? Anyone ever document how to these tips were put together? I'm no stranger to fiberglass and body work? Just not sure it's worth the time.

Re: Top repair
I know the top isn't fiberglass it's another type of glass but I can't remember what it's called. There is another member on here that wrote up what he did to restore his. Search top repair and it should come up. I talked to him a while back I'll try to find the pm if you can't find the thread.

Re: Top repair
If there isnt a real bad sag in the top (lots of double walls have the sag) then i'd fix it. Be sure to use smc resin

Re: Top repair
Thanks for the info. I did a search and found several post for top repair, but nothing on the inner structure, but after researching SMC repair it doesn't look much different from regular fiberglass repair. So i figure I might as well attempt it, cant make it any worse. Son wants a soft top anyway. Ill post photos of the repair if anyone wants to follow along.
