Finally done with the front end!

Finally got the front end done. I used CPP 2.5 spindles, 2 inch springs, all Moog tie rods and ball joints and all that, 85 calipers and spindles, 71 Impala MC and booster, Captfab steering box plate and booster bracket, new lines, two inch shorter Monroe shocks, new bearings and rebuilt the calipers. I will be putting a sway bar as soon as I get time. I took it to Les Schwab and had it aligned and greased up. Man the diff. is night and day! I can cruise down the road with my hands off the wheel and it tracks straight as an arrow. The brakes feel great and a huge diff. This is how it sits and will be like this frever-ish. lol You never know. Rides good stops good now wheels and tires and 5 lug swap for the rear.

Nice job...looks good. Looking to do this soon also. Wondering if the spindles moved your wheels out. Any tire or wheel rubbing or clearance issues? What size wheels/tires are you running?

No rubbing at all. No sure of the tire size. I got these from a junk yard to use until I get my new wheels in the spring. One is black and one is white but you can only see one side at a time.lol

What caught my eye is all that wet stuff in the picture. Is that water? Ahh I have fond memories of rain, just haven't seen any in Southern California in a very long time.

We actually get 4 seasons up here. It's good in a way but winter gets old after a few months. lol I have a friend who lives in Lemoore and they never get rain and it's hot as hell in the summer. I was thinking of moving down there but I'm a sweaty fat guy so that wouldn't be fun.

i did the same with my 64 gmc ---what a big differance. wait untill you put the swaybar on it is the 2nd most awesome thing you will do to your truck!!!!!!!! if you don"t mind what did they charge you to align your truck?

I had it aligned and greased at Les Shwab for $65.

Did you have an issue with the outer Moog tie rod on the driver's side being too long and bottoming out inside the adjustment sleeve? I have essentially the same exact set-up as you, and although mine is just mocked up right now, the driver's side wheel will not go to zero on toe. It's toe'd-out and the tie rod is bottoming out with the inner inside the adjustment sleeve. In the past, I have noticed that Moog tie rods are slightly longer than other brands. I prefer Moog products over all the others, so this issue doesn't change my opinion on their product.

The issue is because the steering box adapter moves the steering box/pittman arm outboard on the driver's side. The fix is really easy (cut approx. 1/4" off the end of the tie rod and redress the threads), and I'm not worried about it, but I was wondering if you saw the same thing I did.

I didn't have any problems with mine. I did replace the sleeves and not sure if that makes any difference.
