How To Prep Frame For Paint After Sandblasting?
I just got my frame back from the sandblasters and am hoping to paint it tomorrow. Should I do anything special to prep it?
All I ws going to do is blow it off with some compressed air and paint it. Anything I am missing? Thanks!

Big thing with all kinds of painting, make sure there is no grease. You could pick up a bottle of pre paint cleaner/degreaser to wipe it down with. If the sandblasting got rid of ALL grease you are probably just fine. Blasting will push grease down into the pits of the metal if not degreased well before hand...

After I blasted mine I used wax and grease remover then wiped mine down with a damp rag as a final step. Granted it was 88 degrees outside.

You can spray it down with brake cleaner too.

You definitely need to do something. When I worked with soda blasted parts, the water/baking soda mix left a residue that had to be cleaned off. You probably don't have that, but like others have said, grease usually lurks in places that aren't easily blasted off. Use a good grease & wax remover. If you use brake cleaner, be sure to spray some on a rag and wipe the frame at the end. You want to make sure you don't have a lot of dark spots on the rag. If you do, it's still dirty.

Re: How To Prep Frame For Paint After Sandblasting?
With the Grease and Wax remover, you are not supposed to let it air dry, as some have had problems with paint not adhering as well if there was still some residue from the Grease and Wax remover under the paint. That is why I followed up with the wet rag soaked with water, like I said, it was 88 degrees and the wax and grease remover dried almost instantly, in using the rag with water it made me feel better about the wax and grease remover being removed before final primer and paint. I went over my frame twice with the wax and grease remover to make sure I wasn't leaving anything behind. Good luck.
