66 Rear Control Arm Bushing Metal Sleeves Help???
I have a 66 Chevy that I am doing a frame off restoration. Part of this work is to replace all bushings in each component. I removed the rear end control arms and removed the bushings as well as the metal sleeves. Sent it off to the powder coater and now have it back and ready to put in new Energy Suspension bushings. Well to my surprise the metal sleeves do not come along with it and through research of multiple places, Summit, Jegs, Energy Suspension themselves, even local parts stores do not sell the metal sleeves. I was supposed to leave those in apparently.
I have been given advice by a few sources that you can find the metal sleeves that fit other control arms and just use them for the rear control arms on a 66, however I havent been able to locate them. They are the same diameter as an upper control arm for a late model front end on a Chevy but those are not quite long enough. Has anyone ran into this issue and have a possible resolution that they would share with me on where they can source the shells. I dont mind even rebuying the bushing set if the shell comes with it. Help please! |

ACK - Thank you. That looks like the correct part. I have not seen the Ecklers website before. Looks like a great resource.

Classic Parts PN 74-875
pretty sure LMC's PN is 30-2012 these are original styl with rubber inserts, I left the sleeve in mine and used the urethane style that you first purchased. Hey, welcome to the forum, share some details and pictures of your project. ..

looks like someone has done some work on that engine at some point, appears to be a long water pump on there, do you know what engine you have there, great progress btw

Re: 66 Rear Control Arm Bushing Metal Sleeves Help???
just be careful when you press those sleeves in, I had to do that with one of mine and it was easy to bend the arm. I tacked a small brace onto the arms which kept them from bending when I pressed in the new sleeve and bushing.
