Asprin is acetylsalicylic acid. I assume that by adding it to the battery it might help increase the level of acid thereby extending the life, but if that is true wouldn't muriatic acid(HCl) be better as it is much stronger than asprin.

I would never put saw dust in anything but maybe a demolition car but I worked at a parts store and delivered parts in an old elcamino that was slip shifting bad and we put in k&w trans fix and I drove the crap out of that thing for a couple more years!

The comet thing was actually a GM service directive on the first small blocks. The ring hatchmarks were not seating with the rings. GM reccommended to pour it down the carb. The motors were using a quart of oil every 500 miles.

I would imagine that the aspirin helps remove the sulphatesfrom the plates in the battery which is what stops it charging properly. I know you used to be able to buy a compound to chuck in an old battery thet revived it, sadly they seem to have stopped selling it now.

you could also use a bowl of oatmeal to quite domn them noisy rears and manual transmissions. just don't plan on goin' too far. Ive heard of the peels of the bannana being used, which is cool because after your monkey is done you just have the peel...lol
also heard of 80-90 gear oil being put in crankcase to quieten down noisy bearings.....done that one lasted about 500 miles....stinks like he!!. the only true Fix is to fix the worn parts, and you dont run the risk of tearing up more than what was originaly damaged. You can use at your own descretion(sp?) a fine spay bottle mist into the carb of an engine running at 1500RPM or so to remove carbon. but the water expands greatly under combustion and you run the risk of damaging bearings. but it will clean the carbon out. you can use this theory to check for blown head gasket, by pulling the plugs and looking for the plug that has the cleanest ceramic near the electrode. That will be the cylinder with the blown gasket, course the ground electrode may have rust on it too. You can use auto trans fluid up to %20 of the crankcase oil mix to remove sludge build up also, the detergent in the fluid will help break it up. but be sure to shorten the oil change intervals(can clog filter) All above info should be used/not used at the readers own risk, I will not be held liable for any damage occuring to property or personal self.............whew

The last thing you want to do is use the proper fluid replacement for anything! LOL
