GMC 3/4 cab mounts the same as 1/2 Chevy?

Hey all,

Looking to purchase some new cab mounts for my 66 GMC 3/4 Ton. Looks at mounts readily available online, they appear to be for the 63-66 Chevy 1/2 ton, and 3/4 ton have different frame mounts thus they take different mounting hardware. However, from looking at photos my rear cab mounts appear to be the same as the 1/2 style, which made me wonder if the GMCs used the 1/2 mounts across their range.

In that photo you can see what my rear mounts look like. Would I be good to go with the standard 1/2 mount kit?

Cheers all!

Wow... this is news to me. Can anyone else confirm non-rubber rear mounts on their GMC 3/4 tons? Sure they haven't been modified over the years? That's pretty strange, if you ask me.

Are they riveted on or bolted?

Re: GMC 3/4 cab mounts the same as 1/2 Chevy?

I just recall the mounting brackets for te 3/4 ton looking differently in diagrams. The rears in the photo above look like 1/2 ton to me. They're riveted on, but cant be 100% it's factory. Looks factory though.

Are you saying the mounts in the photo shouldn't have come on a 3/4 ton?

I can't remember what the actual mounting material looked like unfortunately.

I have a GMC 1/2 ton and a GMC both 66s sitting side by side and they have the exact same mounts for the frame and cushions, same height and shape.

I had a 66 Chevy 3/4 ton and the rear mounts were different than the 1/2 ton, kinda weird looking setup.

PS, I want to warn you about that fuel line you are running. I ran Russell steel braided fuel line for my LT1 and I had to take it all off after 3-4 years and throw it away. The fuel actually weeped through the lines over time and soaked the frame the whole length. I had to move the truck outside because the garage and house stunk of gas. I redid it in aluminum and had no more problem. I don't know if it was a bad run of line or if the fuel nowadays eats the rubber.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely keep an eye on it. They should be ethanol safe by now but I'll send a note to summit and see.

So it sounds like I should be good with 1/2 ton mounts. Thanks all!

RickyWideGlide, I think the comfort issue was the entire thing. The rear mounts on the 3/4 ton Chevy's do absorb more vibration and such, but I have never seen that it was enough to make a whole lot of difference. They are just plain rough trucks anyway

I can confirm the 1/2 chevy mounts are the ones used on my 64 gmc 3/4 ton.

Re: GMC 3/4 cab mounts the same as 1/2 Chevy?

My 63 GMC 3/4 ton had the same rear cab mounts as the Chevy 3/4 ton mounts. They were pretty jacked so I replaced with 1/2 ton mounts.

Before...

After...
