Different shifter indicator?
My truck has a different transmission (700r4) than it had factory so the shift indicator above the column doesn't line up with anything. Is there any place to get different labeled inserts for it? Thanks

Re: Different shifter indicator?
With rebuilding steering columns, I have realized that there are also different pieces inside the column for trucks with overdrive. It is a screw in piece with notches. They are different between overdrive and non overdrive trucks. This may also effect what it is showing on your indicator

Re: Different shifter indicator?
I suspect the detent plate was changed when the tranny was changed, or he would have noticed. The detents have to match the gear positions in the transmission and in the indicator. It is the mis-match between the detent plate and the shift indicator that he is noticing now.

Re: Different shifter indicator?
It is pretty close even without the detent plate changed.

Re: Different shifter indicator?
Chances are the pin on the lever and the gate in the column are worn enough that you'll be able to find P,N,OD,D and 2. 1 might be just out of reach and only attainable if you loose P. Swapping the gate is no piece of cake, but its not hard just time consuming.
