Questons about stepside rear fenders
Are all rear stepside fenders the same 68-72? Are shortbed and longbed fenders the same? I have the rear fender with the spare tire cutout / mount currently, but I'm having trouble selling the truck with that setup. I found a junk longbed stepper with matching regular rear fenders, and I just want to confirm they are the same before making an offer for them. Thanks

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
Yes all 67-72 "regular" step fenders (not spare tire cut outs) are the same (except 67's don't have the bump/cut out for turn signals).
There actually is a difference between short and long bed spare tire cut out fenders (cut out is smaller on the long beds because the tire is more centered and has more space.)

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
If you do this, I'm interested in your tire carrier.
Keep me in mind.

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
Stepsides are the only trucks I want and only because the spare is easy to get to, right on the side.
My next truck (planned) is a lwb with spare time on the side, not a short wheel base. Why? I have had a flat before and I love the ease of getting to my spare. The short wheel base steppers have the hole in the fender (such as yours does). The long wheel base cut out fenders do not have a hole for the carrier arm to the spare tire bracket. The 1-ton (C30) stepside version (very rare) might be different, you'll have to get someone else for that one. |

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
Thanks for the help. I really hate to make the change but may do it anyway. I could've sold the truck ten times over if it had regular fenders.

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
That's crazy... try adding a black steel rim and new tire that fill the space, that might help with "the look."
I found your craigslist ad. Cool truck.

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
I'm planning on mounting another Boss 338 wheel and matching tire (which is mounted and waiting in my garage), but it's going to cut down on the space my grandson has to sit. lol.

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
Whatever you do, don't throw away that mount. They're hard to come by and there are no aftermarket ones I'm aware of.

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
No I wont throw it out, I'll just stash it back with a few other rare parts.

Re: Questons about stepside rear fenders
I would trade you a good 72 rear fender for the 1 you have.
