good sound wanted. Lol.
Hey guys, I'm lookin for a pretty decent system to go with. I live on music but am clueless when it comes to stereos.. My only requirements are an Aux cord hookup and possibly, possibly Bluetooth with IL state laws and Mo may be following suit. Slim to reasonable budget, I'm a student and have other things to pay for also. The truck will have late model buckets with a handfabbed console and a relocated tank. All recommendations welcome, I just want good clean sound. Thanks guys. Edit: I am not one bit opposed to cutting dash, doors, etc. Truck will not be one bit stock.

Re: good sound wanted. Lol.
Decent head units that support aux, USB and Bluetooth are common for under $200.
A good set of component speakers runs ~ $200 also. Add a $200 3 channel amp and $200 worth of subwoofer w/box and you're out the door for under a grand (with wires & such) Stick the big speaker in the console (basically engineer your console around a subwoofer enclosure), the larger component speaks in the doors or kick panels and put the tweeter modules up high enough to have a reasonably unobstructed line of sight to your ears. You can economize by loosing the subwoofer and stepping down to a less expensive 2 channel amp if bottom end isn't important to you. That would get you down to around $600.

Re: good sound wanted. Lol.
There are countless options to go with but as a builder, I suggest spending some time dampening your interior for a couple of reasons:
1.) Cuts out road and outside noise 2.) Allows your interior to be well insulated is better AC and heat 3.) Better acoustics Remember that low frequencies tend to "move through" or be absorbed by interior panels while higher frequencies tend to bounce off hard surfaces. So, the key to maintaining good low end frequency is to dampen the interior so the sound stays inside the cabin. So, here are some suggestions: Insulate the interior of the cabin everywhere you can. Insulate the topside of headliner board Insulate the backsides of all door panels Insulate the floor Make sure all door seals are tight and not leaking Insulate the firewall from both sides. This will allow you to run even a modestly powered sound system and retain great acoustics. Then it becomes a factor of the quality of components used. No use using high end stuff if you can't keep it all inside. |
