Re: my new 58
the plan right now is to get it cleaned up, running, and fix the brakes. it needs a lower hinge for the drivers door. then remove the steel diamond plate in the bed.
it was sitting at a garage / shop when I saw it. I actually passed by for several weeks before stopping to ask about it. the guy that runs the garage said it belonged to a customer and as luck would have it while I was there the trucks owner pulled in. He said his dad bought it new and drove it until he passed away. the last tag on it is from 1996. I asked him if he would sell it, we worked out a price, and here it is. how do tell what size engine is in it ? Looks like a 235 to me. |

Re: my new 58
Great looking truck, great find. Other than the rat nest it looks like it has been being driven, although that tag style hasn't been in use for several years.

Re: my new 58
Very nice pick!
I'm a bit envious of your get though ... 1958 is my dream truck to grab. Farther north of you they seam to get scooped up before they even hit the paper/net/C/L/etc. Good luck with it & I will continue to keep an eye out. R46 |

Re: my new 58
nice truck. if they are in your glove box, then they are in your roof as well. take out your sun visors and start blowing thru the holes with an air hose. it was amazing how much I found up there.

I don't know if you'd call what I'm going to do a build. I am going to get it mechanically sound and ride in it for a while.

Re: my new 58
build as in the rats nest in the glove box is nothing compared to what you'll find under the dash
chances are the last few PO's modified the original wiring to betterize it

Nice truck. After you get it running and stopping I'd suggest a very light color sand with 2000 grit and polish it however it comes out.....and I bet it'll be very good.

Nice truck, with a little CLR scrub you will be showing off some nice patina.
