Oil appearance question

Changing out leaky valve covers and noticed oil on top of inside of cover is carmel/white colored. Head gasket leak? Oil on dipstick looks clean; seller must have changed oil right before it was sold to me. TIA!

Re: Oil appearance question

If you feel like it is not running right you could compression test the cylinders and also use a compression tester on the cooling system to check for possible head gasket leaks. If it is running good, I would use it, get it to operating temp for a time and change oil. I bet you will be fine. Bruce
