Twin Gas Tanks .....Not

When I bought this 74 truck I thought it had two gas tanks because it had two fillers. Wrong. The only gas tank is on the drivers side and the passenger side has a filler that is not attached to a tank, no tank there.

My 76 which I'm selling or scrapping has one tanks on the passenger side which is standard right?

Is there a tank selector switch in the cab? Have you looked underneath to see how the fuel lines are configured? Is the tank selector valve still under there? If it is, you can add a passenger tank (even if it isn't you could add one). I'd definately keep the tank brackets from your parts truck, and if it is short wheelbase truck you can resuse that tank on your new truck. (big tank won't fit a shortbed).

Not fuel selector that I can see inside the cab. I'll have to get under the truck and look for a second fuel line. The way selling the other truck is going it might be worth removing the fuel tank and fitting it to the 74, There is definitely a place and the mounting holes there. Of course that would mean scrapping the 76 which is such a shame. I would remove the Edlebrock intake while I'm there

My 73 has one tank and dual fill doors.

My '73 had a single tank on the passengers side.

Yours may have been a dual tank at some point and a PO eliminated one tank. Either due to leaking tank, defective selector valve or other issues. They just kept the drivers side tank for convenience. Or with the new bed decided to move it to the drivers side.

Had a 73, 74, & 75 with one tank on the LH side. Not the first owner. The 73 & 74 had doors in the beds so not original beds either.
I believe all frames had the tank bracket holes on both sides.
The body work for the filler parts would be the hard part for me. Adding the RH tank is pretty easy if you have the door or filler hole already in the fender.

I quests I should mention that it is a step side. My 76 step side has only one on the pass side. I would bed that the gender was replaced with one that was a dual tank and the PO just put in a filler

I think the step sides had different filler necks than fleet sides, but for fleet sides, I think:

73-75 - Right side standard, 20 gallon tank optional
76-87 - Left side standard, 20 gallon tank optional

Gas tank brackets will fit any year or model, but the bolt patterns are different - one pattern for 73-75 and another pattern for 76-87. You can use any bracket for any model year, but only 2 of the 4 mounting holes will line up correctly (the bottom 2 holes, I think) and you will have to drill 2 new holes in the frame rail and/or mounting bracket - not a big deal. Also, the left side and right side are mirror images of each other, so all tolled there are 4 possible different bolt patterns on the brackets.

If you add a second 16 gallon tank (the only tank possible on a short bed, I think) you might need to get filler neck extension tubes to reach the shorter tank (I know a short bed fleet side will need them.) If you can find a short bed in a junkyard or somewhere else you will see the set up.

I forgot to mention that the rear brackets are the same for all model years and either side - only the front brackets are different.
