AC pulleys question

The good news is I sold my 70 GMC and I have the ability to do something else now. The question is will the long pump AC brackets work on a short pump motor? I have the 400 engine from my 79 and I know of a 69 3/4 ton original air that has a bad motor and no pump or brackets. I looked at my 79 and my 70 to eyeball it but can't tell for sure. Thanks for any help.

I am not sure what you are trying to do. Are you putting the 79 engine into the 69 truck?

Anyway, general rule is that you can't mix long water pump pulleys/brackets with short water pump pulleys/brackets. The belts will be out of line. The long water pump setups normally have the AC compressor on the drivers side. (The short water pump AC compressors are on the passenger side).

My suggestion would be to change the water pump and accessories to fit the year of the vehicle. Trying to mix and match
can be very frustrating.

Yes, 79 engine into 69 truck. I know the long and the short of it but looking at the pulley location on the 79 AC compressor appears to be the right location to make it work. Does anyone know for sure? If not are AC brakets rare as hen's teeth?

It may be easier to scroung around and find the proper set up.
