Cool Re: Seats and console

No problem. The covers are very nice and fit good. I will be pulling the seats back out after Christmas since I'm replacing the carpet now since the console hits my shifter and when I move it there will be a great big hole in it. I plan to pull the covers tight again then and adjust them better I hope to fit.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Cool Re: Seats and console

Update on the console. I have the crack epoxied and fixed both small holes on the rim of it. Aluminum trim has been cleaned and polished. I sanded the thing down and I test fitted the cup holder in place from Frank (pickmup). Very nice. Thanks! Going to paint it Silver & Grey I think to match up to the seats. Have to decide where to mount the home link switches for the garage door opener also.

Talking Re: Seats and console

More done with the console and I finally got the home link mounted inside the ash tray like I wanted. I plan to hide both my amps inside the console so I mounted the fan to pull the hot air out of it from the back. I may put some kind of vent on the sides so the cooler air can be sucked in by the fan. I also cleaned up the Bowtie that goes on the top to have it painted red, What else!
I have a lot more to do to the inside of the truck. New carpet and fill the old bench seat holes up.

Check it out.

Re: Seats and console

I have the same seats in gray cloth from a '98 Tahoe(less heaters). I read that you previously had a stock bench seat and that new buckets bolted in. Which factory holes were used? Fronts? Did you have to drill and reinforce new holes for rear portion of bracket/frame? EDIT: I read it again and I assume they bolted to holes made for the red 40/60 bench seat. So,did the new buckets driver's or passengers use any OEM holes?

Thumbs up Re: Seats and console

I had a 89 Chevy 60/40 seat in it before. The drivers side went right back in the same holes. I had to drill the 2 inner holes for the passenger side bucket seat. I haven't reinforced the floor but plan to when I redo the carpet.

Re: Seats and console

Did the '89 seats use the OEM holes on outer and inner or just outer front and back? Also, what are those 2 controllers under the center of dash for?

The only factory holes used are the 2 outer sets on both sides. Everything else I drilled.

The black box under the AC control is the Scan gauge 2 for the LS motor. It hooks up to the ECU like a scanner tool. It has gauges also that I use it for.

The AC Delco air gauge is for the helper air bags out back. I got it from my dad, it's period correct for 70 model vehicles for air shocks back then.

Lightbulb Re: Seats and console

Update:

Took the seats back out along with the carpet so I can install new carpet along with the console when I get it back from painting. The S-10 gear shifter was not going to let the console sit like it suppose to so I had to move it forward enough to make it work. Well that meant I would have a big old hole in the carpet so I bought new. Now I'm redoing some wiring and the sound deadner Hush mat. Just fixing seams with tape to make it look a little better.

Also took some pictures of the bottom of the seat for those of you who like seeing things as I do. Everyone talks about reinforcing the truck floor when installing seats. I found something I thought was interesting and wanted to share.
I use grade 8 bolts to hold the seat down with good hard washers and that is good enough for me.
Now look at the bottom of these 1999 seats and tell me what you see and think is the weak link. I don't think it's the floor that is for sure. These are all factory installed and haven't been touched. I think they are a little small to say the least but I guess they are what has been tested.

Thanks,
I dropped off the console tonight to get it painted. Took everything back out to do the new carpet and weld all the old holes in the floor up and fix a few other small problems.
