New wiring.. a couple problems
At long last I am finally tidying up my new full wiring harness. I used Painless kit #10112. For the time being I am keeping the stock cluster.
Upon replacing the turn signal switch, I began to test, and a couple things have shown not to work. Upon connecting the turn signal switch harness in the column to the rest of in-cab harness, a couple wires in the uncovered part of the turn signal switch/chassis harness connection grounded to the steel dash. Upon this grounding, the horn stayed steadily on. Once the wire connections were properly insulated, the horn did not work. It has been a 1 man, slightly novice, job the whole way, but I have double checked all my connections with the manual and everything seems to work until this new turn signal switch was connected. I'm thinking the column is not grounding correctly. However, there is no turn signal switch grounding wire... any ideas? WORKING: Starting system Charging system Headlights Running Lights Brake Lights NOT WORKING: Turn Signals Horn Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I'm just losing my mind thinking.

Re: New wiring.. a couple problems
You can isolate the problem with a digital multi meter....
Disconnect the column harness connectors and test for continuity from the pinout on the plug to a chassis ground location in the cab... if the wire goes from the column... to the 1157 bulb and into ground.... you will see continuity... (my multimeter throws a tone)... You can then see if all 4 corners of signal are 'correct' and than can either isolate the problem to column wiring, or to something still within the fuse panel or the wiring to the 4 corners itself. Turn signal relays replaced or tested good? Are you running any LED turn signals... the will not work without an LED turn signal relay(with ground lead) PS: I know your pain (LS swap the same time I redid the entire chassis harness) Use a test light on the horn relay feed wire vs. feeding it thru the relay... you may need to replace the horn relay if it was burned up when it got stuck on

Re: New wiring.. a couple problems
^ agree, sounds like u may have a ground and hot crossed, or maybe even a pinched wire in the column.

Re: New wiring.. a couple problems
Update:
I was testing continuity through my turn signal circuits at the column and found that the wire was crossed- thanks to a passerby being curious. Drk Blue and Black- Color Blindness and rushing to finish.. As for the horn, the relay was bad. Wether it be from being on or from the manufacturer, I am going to get a replacement today. Thank you guys for your help.

Remember.... chances are someone has cussed the exact same swear words as you at the the exact same problem.... might as well ask before you throw your tools thru the garage drywall. (I don't want to talk about it) Theres a reason I have wifi in my garage with a retired labtop on the beer fridge... when it doubt... beers and forum posting questions usually fixes the problem. Keep at it... we look forward to hearing about another successful maiden voyage!
