Shock Mount Issue Need Help
I am working on going through and cleaning up my rear axle and need help on what to do next. For what I know of the rear axle is that it is a GM 12 bolt and it had some repairs done on it at sometime. I got it sandblasted today and just noticed that the shock mounts are different. Also they are not inline with each other. Are they supposed to be offset like that or are the supposed to be inline? I ordered a Skyjacker lift and wondering if this is going to be an issue.
Thanks Nathan

Re: Shock Mount Issue Need Help
The shock mounts on my 70GMC are not like that. Mine look even and parallel.

Re: Shock Mount Issue Need Help
What kind of repairs were done, it might be worth checking to see if the axle tube is straight

Re: Shock Mount Issue Need Help
This axles is out of a pickup that was a project that someone gave up on. It is a 1972 K10 SWB. In the file that came with the pickup the is a receipt from a engineering and manufacturing company. On the receipt it says they specialize in custom drivelines and machine part. It also says on the receipt to make shaft to customers sample shaft provided. That is all I know about the axle. The perches seem the be parallel and the business seems as if they would know what they are doing. Not sure if one of the previous owners welded shock mounts on wrong.

Re: Shock Mount Issue Need Help
Does anybody know what the measurement is supposed to be on the spring perches center to center.
