Air Cleaner /Hot Air Vacuum Control Question
Would like to reconnect the stock vacuum controlled hot air diverter on my 71 GMC. I have all the original parts, but not sure how to reconnect the vacuum lines ? I am trying to describe the diverter mounted inside the air cleaner snorkel that allows only hot air to enter carb during cold temps....pictures would be of help....thanks everyone....

Re: Air Cleaner /Hot Air Vacuum Control Question
There should only be 2 vacuum lines to connect.
One line runs from a vacuum source on the carburetor up to the temperature sensitive vacuum switch that's mounted in the base of the air cleaner housing. On most QJet carburetors, the vacuum port for this is sticking straight out of the passenger side. On 2bbls, I think it's on the lower rear passenger side corner. The other vacuum line connects from the temperature switch in the base of the air cleaner to the vacuum actuator that's out on the air cleaner snorkel. |
