nitrous on my 355

Wanting a bit more power from my sbc.
Right now it's just a .40 350. New internals but all stock.
Stock heads, springs etc.
Running a xe268 cam. Performer intake. Holley 650
Th350 trans with a 2000 stall
3.08 gears

Can't remember total timing off the top of my head but I'm wanting to put a littlle juice to it and have a little fun
Engine runs great. Good fuel pressure. No issues.

Want to get a single plane intake and eventually change over to electric fuel pump setup
as far as nitrous goes. What kit is best? Spray bar or a perimeter plate?
Wanting maybe 100/150 shot. Even less is fine.

Something along the lines of a NOS cheater or equall . Maybe even a fixed powershot . I mention the powershot as it would be less variable . You will need to know the exact timing and fuel pressure with nitrous .

as far as fuel pressure, right now I'm at a steady 6.5

Did a quick search. So the PowerShot is a dedicated size.
Since I'm running a single fuel feed. Would I get that T fitting run a line to the fuel solenoid. And one back to the carb

Yes , if you dont have a dedicated fuel system for the nitrous , then you will need to split off the carb fuel pump . This pump needs to be up to the task of both the carb and the plate and able to maintain fuel pressure with both drawing on it . Any drop in fuel pressure will effect the "tune up" on the the plate .

I had a Holley 80gph mechanical on the motor for a little over a year but the pump diaphragm went out. Right now it has just a stock replacement. Which I think may be 60gph. Not too sure. But electric is soon in the works.

Honestly you would probably see better all around performance from changing the gears. A 3.73 would do wonders over the 3.08. I assume your not terribly concerned with gas mileage. Obviously a 100shot or so will work wonders too but its only there once in a while and keeping that bottle full can get spendy over time.

Funny thing you mention gears. I have a brand new set of 3.73s I'm waiting to put in.
I'm more or less confused how to run all the hardware.
I'm looking at a fuelcell with a sump. 2 an fittings and a vent. I want to use a single fuel line but somehow run it to the carb and to the fuel solenoid. All without having a huge mess.
Can I run a fuel log from the carb. Connected to a regulator before the carb where my fuel enters. And from there add another regulator and tap into the fuel solenoid?

I agree gears and more converter would be my first move .

You dont necessarily have to switch over to a single plane to spray an engine. I'd look into a zex perimiter plate myself. I've had good luck with zex stuff on daily driven vehicles. Very high quality.

Also for a 100-150 shot keeping the tight converter and highway gear could get interesting. The complicated part comes from the shock load on the rotating assembly on gear shifts dropping RPMs. When nitrous engines are being sprayed and at lower RPMs your still adding the air for that 150 extra ft. lbs. so its actually more ft. lbs. If it were my engine/trans combo I'd keep everything the way it is and see what happens on a 100 shot.

Also a 10 lbs. bottle will last a while with only a 100 shot. Like safely 8-10 passes if you get a good bottle fill and use a warmer.

Can you give me advice on how to run everything from the tank to the carb. I saw a setup where guy had fuel feed line running to a regulator at the end of a fuel log. Then fuel solenoid at the end of the fuel log
I want to keep it clean and simple.
And still be able to run a return line back to the sump of the fuel cell I plan on putting in.

Your going to use one pump for engine and nitrous?

You need to have two separate regulators, 1 for engine and 1 for nitrous. You need to feed both. If you use the engine regulator as the return you can use a non-return to feed the n20. The n20 regulator will need to be set flowing fuel with the engine running.
Also how big of a cell? Gonna have to watch the fuel level with the return style system.
Return style systems create more problems than they solve IMOP at power levels this low.

Fuel cell is a 16 gal. Two -8AN pickup fittings and one -8AN vent. I'd be fine with no return. As my truck runs with no return as well right now. So could I possibly have a regulator before and after the fuel log? And run the fuel solenoid off the regulator to the perimeter plate?

So you havent purchased the pump yet?

I'd run a single feed and y-it to two regulators or run the log with two regulators off it. You cant run one after the other with a non-return system.

No pump has been purchased yet. Getting a better idea of parts before it's set in stone. How exactly can I run the log with the two regulators off it?

Going to have to get a log with at least 3 ports. Regardless you have to have 2 regulators any way you cut it and the pump needs to feed both directly in a non return style system.

Ah ok. So what your saying is I need the regulators to be separate from the fuel log itself since you said I can't run them right after one another. Correct? A diagram would come in handy right now haha.
