I had one put in the LWB 71 after the LS motor and 4l80e swap.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 1 pc.driveshaft

I went to a 1 piece after converting to a swb. I like it a lot more. I don't believe you can get a small diameter 1 piece, I believe they are all 3" tube, but I could be wrong. Mine is a 3" diameter tube, I like it a lot better than dealing with the carrier bearing. Are you having it custom made or buying a used one? I was lucky enough to find a used one, threw some u-joints in it, took it to be ballanced, and threw it in.

Welding is a lot like sex, you don't have to be great with the rod as long as you thoroughly prep the surface and your good at grinding

Re: 1 pc.driveshaft

I had Inland Driveline build mine. They have a great website and video tutorial on how the measure for the correct length and how to pick the right joints and yokes for your application. Worth the website visit just to know your on the right track.

Re: 1 pc.driveshaft

I just converted from a LWB to a SWB. Installed a big block with a TH400, so the original driveshaft is out the door.

My local driveshaft shop wants about $475 to build a new one.

I've found a couple of shafts on ebay that are the correct lengths pulled from various vehicles. Is there anything wrong with going that route? The price is about 1/2 the cost of a new custom built shaft.

When I bought my truck it had a 3 in diameter drive shaft. After installing a big block and Turbo 400 backed by a Gear Vendors overdrive. The trans mount was moved back 8 inches and the original drive shaft was shortened by a local driveshaft shop to 44 inches and rebalanced. That combination is MUCH longer than the original 350 small block and TH 350 trans. The truck is lowered 3.5 inches in front and 5 in the rear. No problems with shaft vibration or pinion angle. Almost any competent driveshaft shop can build a shaft for you. If you want a pro, go to either Inland Empire Driveline in Ontario CA or Randy's Driveshaft Service in Houston Tx.
