Axle Crooked
I recently put a DJM flip kit on my c10. It looks like the rearend is a little crooked. the drivers side seems to be forward about an inch or so as compared to the other side. Ive noticed that when I do a burn out (with my limited slip rearend) that i get very violent wheel hop. Could the wheel hop be because of the crooked axle? I know i need to straighten it out anyway, but I want to know if i should be looking for other issues while i am in there.
Thanks for your help guys. This forum hasnt let me down yet |

Yes, it is, in part, because of the axle being crooked. That may not be the only contributor, though. Leaf springs are notorious for wheel hop as well. Get the axle straight then see if that doesn't calm it down a bit. |

Re: Axle Crooked
The DJM flip kit has offset holes in the cradle. This moves the axle housing back in order to center the wheel in the opening and make sure the driveshaft isn't too short. Sounds like you may have one of the cradles reversed.
An axle tube bent a full inch out on the end would be out of the operating angle for any of the bearings and possibly even cracked the housing, so that's not likely. I put Cal-Tracs on my DJM flipped 69 short bed, but there are less expensive solutions to solve wheel hop. Universal traction bars run less than $50.
