Stuck Shackle Bolt
I am trying to finish a flip kit install on my 84 1/2T. I thought while I was at it I would install poly bushings in the shackles and springs. I have everything apart except for the removal of one rear shackle bolt. It seems to be frozen into the sleeve of the shackle bushing. The other shackle bolt was frozen as well, it took nearly forever with a sawzall and grinder to cut the bolt and get the shackle out. The swazall didn't have much effect on the factory grade 8 bolts.
I have tried pushing the remaining shackle bolt with a 4T bottle jack braced against the other side of the frame and using a section of pipe to push against the bolt with the jack. That doesn't work either. Any other ideas? This project seemed like a good idea when I started. Now? I'm driving a Mercury Grand Marquis while my truck sits in the garage. That's tough on a guy. |

Hey at least now I don't feel so stupid. I had an 83 where the bolt came out with no problems. Must be something to do with living in the rust belt.
