thoughts on using body panel adheasive in panel seams
hello all! I just glued my roof skin back on using evercoat maxim panel bonding adhesive and it got me thinking about using it to fill the seams in my fleetside bed panels. I also glued the lower section of my hood and it seems to do well in that seam. I have seen guys weld the seam up and it looks great, but it is tedious and time consuming and not to mention possible warpage. just looking for opinions on this and if anyone has already tried this.

Shhhh. The secret is out hahaha!
The only ill effect I have noticed is using it on metal to metal contact across large non structural panels when in hotter climates for extended outdoor srorage. Gutters work well, nose jobs and side of hood, side of beds work well, vertical rear cab cap seams etc. Anywhere like you described that you dont want to use more than a skim of filler but dont want to be stich welding and grinding for weeks.

i would use the 3m ultrapro seam sealer on the bed panels. the sem stuff seems to work well also and is cheaper.

Is the adhesive strong enough to butt join two panels or would you need to lap the joints with a 1" strap beneath?

There needs to be a lap joint for panel bonding adhesive.
