What Year Spindles

Hello
I'm ready to order some suspension and brake parts for my 68 ,i want to lower it 5/7 . I'm wondering what spindles to order for the truck , i was going to order spindles for a 73 to 86 truck and change ball joints to that year . Am i going to have to order camaro rotors and caliper's to make things fit , i want a 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern for my rims . Or should i just order stuff made to fit a 68 ? I have read some post that the 73 spindles and camaro caliper's and rotor's will work ,just want to make sure before ordering . Thanks

If you are going to change it to discs use all the heavier 71 up steering parts too. The factory made them heavier for a reason.
Need to use the search function to get more complete answers on the rotors. As far as I know there isn't a GM rotor with 4 3/4 that is a direct swap other than maybe the square body light duty with the 1" rotors. Then you are still going to need to deal with the rear axle.

Re: What Year Spindles

There are some disc brake kits that come with 5 on 4 3/4" bolt pattern, but they are lighter duty than the truck. Don't do this swap is my opinion.

Best way is as suggested as above. But if all front end parts are in good shape (as were my 69 short step with only 66,000 miles) then the easy solution is spindles designed for discs and the 67-70 tie rods and ball joints.

For the rear you can buy conversion axles and new drums or get a later rear axle. The later axle (71-72) is an inch and one half wider. I went this route to fit the wheel/tire combo I wanted.

Buy a disc conversion kit from Early Classic Enterprises. They have top notch products and service.
