need advice quick!

i was changing the spark plugs on my engine and i was putting in the last plug when i accidentaly screwed up the threads on the engine. What should i do to fix it. I didnt screw up all the threads. I felt it turning kinda hard so i backed out the plug and it only screwed up like the first thread. So would i be able to just get a tap and fix the threads. And can i just leave everything together, or do i need to take the head off to do it. any help would be appreciated. I need to get this thing running soon as it is my daily driver.

Get a thread chaser at the parts store. It's kind of like a tap. It just fixes little boo-boos like you have. No need to remove the head.

I'd say pull the head

Fill the grooves on the thread chasers with grease to catch any metal shavings.

You can use a tap, just make sure it is the same thread as your spark plug, try it in another hole first too. before you tap it put grease on the tap to catch the shaving. Do it very slow and carefull.

i agree with TX. you a chaser instead of a tap. the tap will cut the treads more where a chaser with just clean them up. the tap could cut them too much and could cause a problem. also there is a special chaser and tap for some plugs because some tapper. i can`t remember if the car heads are but i know harley heads are. be carefull and definately put grease on the threads of the chaser.
