While the tank and bench seat are out should I Insulate?

The cab gas tank is out and the bench seat too. Should I place some heat shield insulation down in the back of the cab and floor before I put the tank and seat back in? If so is the insulation at the local hardware store acceptable?

Thanks

I did and I put Hush mat down first then covered it with foam insulation and carpet! My tank doesn't go back there though anymore!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Great idea I have to replace some of the worn out parts on the inside of both doors next week so I'll do it then.

If you do the doors, don't cover the drain holes in the bottom, its the only way to let moisture out.Dave

Re: While the tank and bench seat are out should I Insulate?

you can get a foil back insulation at lowes called peel and seal, its in the roofing area. it will take about two rolls to do your truck. I would also buy a couple rolls of foil tape to seal the edges and seams with

Does that stuff compare with dynamat or hushmat? I plan on doing mine also... don't need to spend a fortune, but don't want to do it twice either.

I insulated mine and added acoustic foam panels to the tank, helps absorb reflections in the cab. Made a big difference.

Re: While the tank and bench seat are out should I Insulate?

I used the peel & stick aluminum coated flashing from home depot. It is 6" wide and less than an eighth of an inch thick. It took a little over one roll. I think a roll is about $20.00. It made a big difference because it dampens a lot of the harmonic noise from the floor boards. I read somewhere (perhaps on this site) that you can line the inner door skins too.

When you do insides of doors, you don't need to put a lot in there. Just a couple of 4" strips going down the length of the door will make all the difference in the world.
