Tilted Brake Booster?
Okay. So can anyone tell me why the brake booster on the 67 to 72 Chevy C10s were tilted? I'm looking to replace the tilted bracket with one that would make the master cylinder set level. However, I don't want to do it if there is a good reason not too.

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
I'm not sure the specific reason but I'm sure if they came that way from the factory then it needs to be that way. Interested to see what the actual reason may be myself.

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
If you want to do something with it make the booster sit flush against the firewall like others have done. I agree it looks pretty strange how far out and unlevel the whole thing sits. I had a friend who thought I did something wrong after I installed my power brake setup. I was like trust me, it's right.

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
Maybe it's so when you are on the brakes hard and the front dips, the fluid stays level?

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
I can't be sure but I've read from several different sources that it's to help correct the push rod ratio on vehicles that came with both manual or optional power brakes.

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
I think it had something to do with shift linkage clearance, too.

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
Thanks Everyone! Good input. I had heard it had something to do with the push rod as well as clearing the shift linkage.

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
Hey Leadfoot067: What bracket did you order? Did you have to modify the linkage to the brake pedal at all?

it was not a bolt in.i moved the upper studs down a little, and used a 8" dual power booster and that cleared the column shift linkage.and built an adjustable pedal rod to hook it up...if your not into welding holes and changing things the captainfab bracket will do the same thing..only it will bolt on...

Re: Tilted Brake Booster?
Thanks LeadFoot067 for the link. One quick question for you. You said you moved the upper studs down a little, which studs are you referring to?
