Re: 67 Bench seat price

That sucks, but was for the best... there's just not a whole lot of value in the frame itself.

Right. Does your 67 have the original seat? I called about 45 salvage yards today and one has a 69 seat that doesn't tilt of course for $50. I read a thread about seat brackets that said all 67-72 brackets bolt to the floor the same. Do you think I would have any problem with the 69 seat in the 67 cab with the gas tank behind the seat?

Re: 67 Bench seat price

If you don't mind it not folding forward all 67-72 bench seats use the same brackets and bolt to the floor the same.

I just reupholstered a 71/72 style seat for my 67.

Re: 67 Bench seat price

It will bolt right in. Different year seats used different brackets...but the floor pattern is the same.

Didn't know that... I knew the floor pattern was the same, never knew about the different brackets.

Re: 67 Bench seat price

Lolife99 has a thread showing the differences I believe. 67/68, 69/70, 71/72 used different brackets. As I understand it, the year brackets and the year seat HAVE to match, but they will bolt into any truck. Most of the time a bench seat has the brackets attached so nobody gives it a thought.

Re: 67 Bench seat price

I had a guy from one of the salvage yards I called today call me back and he said he has a seat frame and brackets for $75. I think that's the route in going to take. How difficult is it to redo upholstery?

Re: 67 Bench seat price

That's a loaded question. Really depends if you are going to sew the complete cover or buy one and just put it on (which is much easier said than done). Sewing your own is really hard but just putting one on can be done with some time and patience. Just watch a few videos on youtube to get some pointers and go for it.

Re: 67 Bench seat price

Depends on what you want. A member here makes them his handle is truckseats and makes high quality stuff. The 1970 step in my Sig was from him including matching door panels. Depending on what you want he sometimes has returned items for cheaper. I think his regular/special order bench seat covers are around $3-400, but check with him. I know there is another vendor or two on the board, I am just not familiar with themail.

Re: 67 Bench seat price

Here is a link to his photo book. You will want to order in advance because some orders take a while to fill.

Re: 67 Bench seat price

Well I drove 100 miles today round trip to a salvage yard in another state. Guy said he had the folding back just like I wanted. So I got up there with my tools and wheelbarrow and find the truck in the middle of the yard. The first thing I noticed was that it had a plastic cover over the hinge point. I took the two screws out and turned it over and this is what I saw. Guy got mad when I tried to show it to him and said he couldn't see it.

Nope good old Kansas. I won't mention names of businesses but I probably wouldn't have been able to get the seat out anyways. He got visibly irritated. He said "that ain't no damn dodge seat". The truck was sandwiched between two other trucks and covered in sticker bushes. So I took my happy trailer home. I have an appointment with a guy on Monday to look at another seat that supposedly tilts forward. If that fails I have one more avenue.

Unless someone here has a donor.
