Wood Floor Bed Question
On a metal floor bed, at the front end (lower) of the rear wheel opening, there's a metal support rod that attaches from the fender to one of the cross members under the bed. Is there the same for a wood floor bed? I tried lining up a support from a metal bed, but was unable to find any predrilled (factory) hole. Are the support rods unique to wood floor beds? Thanks.

Re: Wood Floor Bed Question
I dont for sure know the differences, height maybe, but my wood bed has the same brace. I do know that some of those pre punched holes on the side of the bed support for those braces are on each end, but one side only if that makes sense. Meaning on mine i needed to flip the support to the opposite direction for holes to line up.
Maybe not your case, but thats what i ran into. Hope that helps

Re: Wood Floor Bed Question
I think the rods are unique to each side, but are easy enough to modify. Maybe the lengths on them are different between wood/metal beds. I loosely attached one rod to the hole on the bedside and swung an arc w/the opposite end of the rod and could not find a place where it would connect (thinking that there'd be a factory drilled hole).
Maybe someone will post a pic. |

Re: Wood Floor Bed Question
Yeah, was just thinking you had the bed apart and a cross sill was flipped maybe. Holes were there on mine, just on the opposite side of the sill. I had to flip it.

Re: Wood Floor Bed Question
wood beds have the same suppport bar, they bolt to the floor cross brace. all the braces have the same holes, and yep they're only on one side of each brace.
to swap from metal to wood you need a new header panel and all the floor braces including the rear brace that's tack welded to the bedsides. that's it!

Re: Wood Floor Bed Question
You could always go wood over the metal... Several posts out there. I did a few year ago.
