seat question need some help

Has anyone put the back seat out of a 2002 or similar extended cab chevy in their 67-72. I have chance to pick up a vary nice leather one for cheap but don't won't to waist my time and money. My 67 still has the gas tank in the cab as well. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: seat question need some help

Many people have used the 99-up Chevrolet truck seats in the 67-72 trucks, It does help to have a tilt wheel or at least a smaller steering wheel[or smaller stomach]I'm 6'2 and over 300 and the fit is tight but to be fair I was closer to 370 when I tried the combo. It will work there or tons of pics on here about this very thing. I have a 71 one ton I got in a couple of weeks ago if I don't find a blue seat soon I will be using some 2002 GMC seats out of a SLE that I'm junking. Jim

Re: seat question need some help

I havent seen the extra cab seats used but seen several 2nd row tahoe suburban seats used that fit well. And I saw a rear seat from a 2008ish avalanche that I measured that looked like it had potential

I believe I measured the one in my brother 2003 and from the seat back to the front of the seat was about 4" shorter than a standard bench.

Then you would have to finagle a way to mount it!

I was thinking since the bottom part of the extended cab seat folds up I could build a frame from square tubing underneath the seat and box it in so there would be storage under the seat. Then fab up some brackets from rails so I can adjust the seat forward or backward.

Re: seat question need some help

The extended cab seat is not really what a man would want in there a second seat from a crew cab or Suburban /Avalanche is more a long the lines of what you would need. Too bad your not closer I have all of the above out and sitting in the floor at my place you could get to try out to see what you like. I also have some second row captains chairs from a Suburban [Sub's are cheaper at the sale for junk sometimes and the 5.3's are usually in better shape]I haven't thought about trying any of those to see how they would fit in our trucks. Re: seat question need some help

So I took Huggers advice and steered away from the extended cab seat and ended up getting a smokin deal on a leather second row seat out of a 2000 Tahoe. My problem now is how to go about mounting them in my 67. I tried to search for a thread with some pics of how other people did it but I couldn't find one. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great. And thanks again to Hugger for the advice, saved me a lot of time and money.

Re: seat question need some help

Your very welcome I am glad to help when I can. I've been in this business a long time fooling with cars and trucks. Since I'm not gonna make a ton of money doing it [ or even too much to carry for that matter] at least I can help people from what I have learned. And there isn't many people that has their head crammed full of useless stuff like I do. Jim
