Drive shaft spacer question
Has anybody used a 1" drive shaft spacer? What is it used for? How about the 1" transfer case lowering kit? What is it used for?
If anybody has any input on these two subjects, please let me know. Also, does anybody know if they make a longer peice for the rear drive shaft of a 77 K-20 (1 piece drive shaft, long bed) where the u-joint hooks to the rearend yoke, there is a slined female part (the piece the u-joint is attached to on the drive shaft) that slides up and down a male spline that is attached to the big tube of the drive shaft? Or do I need to just have the drive shaft lengthened? Thanks, Dana

The 1" transfer case lowering kit, lowers the transfercase crossmember 1" and easing the rear driveshaft angle good for short wheel based vehicles, did it to my K5 when I installed a 4" lift. The not so good part is it increase the front driveshaft angle slightly by pointing the front TC output up thus increasing the angle, usually not a problem because the front driveshaft is longer than the rear and usually has a cv joint which can stand the angle better. The best thing to do would be to have a new rear driveshaft made with a cv joint at one end vice lowering the TC.
I would not recommend the driveshaft spacer, it changes the rotating mass of the driveshaft, for about $150 you should be able to get your driveshaft lengthen, best way to go.
