Mystery Switch below Brake Switch

So, based on some feedback I got in this forum, I was looking to replace my brake switch. When I got underneath the dash, I found this mystery switch in the way, just below the brake switch. The rusty metal bracket has two bolts that attach it to the maroon frame and it has a connector with a light green and a gray wire attached to the side. These two wires disappear into a harness and I'm not sure where they go. Any ideas?

As you can see, the switch is mounted so that it is pressed in when the pedal is at rest, and is released when the brakes are applied.
