Double wall top worth $800 obo?
I found this double wall top about an hour from me. He said there's no cracks but there are some dips on top. I'm guessing that's common for old fiberglass? My blazer is lifted so I'll never really see them anyway. I figure a good solid hatch is almost worth that. Let me know what you guys think.
Posting from my phone so pics will probably flop, sorry.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
Mine I found out this weekend is a double wall too.
I feel like they would be better at keeping heat out or cold in. I was wondering about finding an old not so clean hard top to make into a solid full length bikini top that bolts to a roll cage. PG |

I'd like to do the same thing. I'd did one on my jeep a few years ago and loved it. I just cut the window openings bigger and kept the mounting flanges.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
I think it's a little pricey especially being a double wall. Depends on the area too, some people give them away and some people want $800. A near perfect hatch would be worth that almost.

Single walls are more desirable for a number of reasons.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
I went and checked it out, the hatch is near perfect. There's no cracks, weatherstrip is even nice. All the edges are straight and solid, and includes mounting hardware, but it does dip between the braces. He came down to $650, he also has a like new soft top I might try to get a package deal on.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
I took two double wall tops to the dump, I literally couldn't get anyone to take them for free. But, the hatches are worth some money.
If you can get the top, hatch, and soft top for $650 I think you are doing OK. IMO if you need a top, a double wall is worth $200 - $300. A hatch is worth $200 - $400. I am not sure what a soft top is worth. I will tell you from experience that is no one needs a top, a double wall is tough to give away. Single walls are more desirable because they bolt down into the bed rails. You don't have to remove your side panels to take the top off or put it back on. With a double wall you have to remove the side rails when you want to remove or install the top.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
I sold one on eBay a few years ago for $600 and the guy that won the auction drove 150 miles to get it. I tried selling it local for $150 and got no where. Listed on eBay for $100 with no reserve and that's where it ended.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
$800 is very steep. The hatches are usually around $400 in good shape, some will pay up to $600 though. I'd say if he'll make a deal for everything go for it, but by itself, no. $650 is still steep for a complete double wall, but for the soft top also it's decent if it's complete also.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
Hello all,
I am a newb, and still need to introduce myself and pics of my '70 Blazer. So here is my dumb question: Can someone please explain how I can tell if I have a single wall or double wall top? I am pretty sure it is single wall, but would like to know for sure, especially for roll bar fitting. Thanks! |

Single wall bolts from the top down and has two dome lights.
Double wall bolts from the bottom up and has no dome lights.

Double wall top worth $800 obo?
Well I guess that means I have a single wall but it felt like
what I would think was a double wall. It has two lights the front bolts from the bottom through the visor and the back bolts from the top into the bed rails. I could have sworn it was double walled as you can tell there is a cavity between two layers. PG |

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
Single wall is a late 72 design. They are less common and harder to find than the double wall. The design still has a small cavity but they are called single wall because of the way they are put together. I believe the double wall has a seam that runs length wise down the middle while the single wall does not. I've had both and I like the single wall better myself.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
PGG that's definitely a single wall. To be honest I think they both have two walls, it's just that the single wall doesn't have much of a gap between them. The single walls seem to sag less. They are easier to install and remove if you have interior side panels. They are both heavy as heck.

Re: Double wall top worth $800 obo?
Looks to me like the top in question has non-original window rubber. I think that is way high. I think a single wall with hatch and both with no issues could be worth as much as $800. I guess if a guy has no top and lives close enough to pick up would make a difference, but I would put my money toward a single wall for that kind of money
