I'm looking to get more power out of my 86 K30. I think the motor is original. How much power is it capable of making on the stock shortblock with just a cam/headers/intake/carb swap, and what is a good proven combo? I don't want to dismantle the shortblock. You see a lot of these peanut port motor builds making 400+horsepower these days...so what have you guys done?

Re: 86 454 build

peanut ports are good for torque, no use putting a big cam in there if you're keeping them. Headers will help with torque also. Good solid edelbrock dual plane will do the trick. You might see 400hp but the heads will be out of breath by the time you get there.
Find some good larger oval ports if you wanna make real power
