Trying to ID this lift kit.

I bought this 03 1500 with this 6" lift kit on it. I am debating either taking it off and back to factory or maybe down to like 2.5-3" lift. It is just taller than what I like. I got a good deal on the truck so I couldn't pass it up.

I know the rear leaf springs are super lift 5" springs and I think there are blocks underneath them also. Maybe 1-1.5" blocks. The front lower control arms are stamped SMV. I am not sure if these are sold in lift kits or it is its own brand lift or what. Just trying to figure out what I got so I can see what all was put on the truck. That way I will know what I am up against if I want to go back factory or if there are any parts I can keep for the 2.5-3" lift if that is what I decide to do . Here are some pics I took today. Not the best but not sure where to start. I was told it has dual rough country shocks up front on each side.

One more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I like how the truck looks but it is just a little taller than I would like. Takes more for me to get into the truck and also the wheels just allow for everything to get thrown all over the sides of it. The offset is more than I want. Might go back to am 08+ style 18 or 20" factory wheel with a tall tire. Something that will tuck back in the fenders. It has 315/75/16's on 10" offset wheels.

Ugh those front axles are ugly!!! One reason I do not like IFS front ends.

I don’t recognize the torsion drop bar bracket at all...not even as a Superlift piece. Wonder if some creative farmboy built that on his own?? Man, all that RUST! The salty Midwest is tuff on vehicles. My 2001 Silvy still has the wax coat on the frame just like the day it came home 14 years ago.

Yeah not sure where to start with this. The previous owner said Superlift but I think he was just going off the rear leaf tag. He bought the truck that way.

As far as the rust we don't get treated well here. It doesn't help that the PO use to take this truck in the mud. Not until after I bought it did I realize all the mud caked up underneath it.

Something to consider is if any of the IFS had to be cut off for the install of the lift. Quite a few of those kits require it but since I have never lifted a IFS GM truck not sure. I did on my 89' Toyota and once its done you can't go back to stock.

I was wondering just how "reversible" these lifts were. I saw you were having issues with finding a tall skinny suitable for the 6" lift w/o going with mud hogs. part of the problem is the 10" wheels. If you went to 8" it would really help

I was planning on going back to a factory 2008+ 18 or 20" wheel if I do this and keep the lift. Even if I do something with the lift I will still go to a skinnier wheel to be able to get the tire back under the truck. The 10" and the offset just sling stuff all over the truck.

At this point I am debating selling it and just trying to find another that hasn't been lifted. I just got the transmission rebuilt and now have a noise in what sounds like the front output of the transfercase. I hear the squeaking going down the road. I got under neath and the only thing I can see if when I spin the front driveshaft it has that sound at that point. Along with needing tires and probably some front end components rebuilt just not sure how much I want to throw into this truck just to have a nice driver with no issues.

Take into account that some of these IFS lifts actually push the tires out as well and that you may only get so much without changing the backspace.

But honestly I wouldn't run that lift with the angle of those cv axles as that is going to put a ton of crazy stress on those.

That angle is only due to it being on the floor jack and jacked up on the drivers side. I was under it yesterday and the shafts are pretty level when it is setting on the ground.

I think the truck looks pretty good with the lift but it is just not my thing. I understand what you are saying though. Just not sure what I am going to do with it right now. I like this style with the harder to find sport side bed and they are harder to find especially with the lower miles. I have been looking for another one in case I decide to sell this one and they are few and far between.

I figured the axles were drooped. That's the whole point of this type of lift, it drops the center section which keeps the geometry the same as factory.
I have had the same feelings with the '95 Suburban I bought in Dec. I bought it to have a good to go vehicle for a while, not something to play with or sink money into. I would have bought exactly what I wanted if I wanted that. It is using oil like crazy and I am hoping it's a cracked intake. If this thing needs a motor I will be pissed. I already need a motor in my '72 and the truck this thing replaced I gave up on because the motor blew. I'm crossing my fingers. I need to keep this and try to find another suitable '90s shortbed to complete my package.

I wonder about those lifts being listed as 4-6". Does that mean it can vary that much or is that with torsion bar adjustment? Could you bring that lift down a bit? Say, enough to run 255/85s or 285/75s

I am thinking this might be more like a 6.5-7" lift. The springs are 5" and the blocks look like 1.5-2". From what I was told on this truck the torsion bars were still on the stock setting. Their website says the lift is made to give factory geometry but the ride isn't factory like. That is another reason I don't much care for it.

I was in town the other day and spotted this GMC with factory 20's on it. I liked it quite a bit. I am thinking it was on factory suspension.

Yeah the lift, wheels and cowl hood give it that look but I think it would still look sharp on factory suspension and the right wheels.
